Alex Loy

Alex James Loy, age 30, of Hamilton, Indiana, died February 27, 2024. Alex was born April 19, 1993 in Mishawaka, Indiana to Brad Eric Loy and Lorisa Y. (Leiter) Loy. He worked as a waiter in Hamilton, Indiana at Lakers Landing, a local restaurant.

Survivors include:
His son, Luca Loy of West Dundee, Illinois.
His mother, Lorisa Loy of Henderson, Nevada.
His sister, Meghan Loy and her fiancé, Brian Bobilya, both of Coldwater, Michigan.
His father, Brad Loy and his fiancé, Ruth Strater, both of South Milford, Indiana.
His grandparents, Jim and Sereta Leiter of Bullhead City, Arizona, and Tom Loy and step grandmother, Phyllis Loy of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Alex was preceded in death by his grandmother, Violet Sheerin.

Alex and his mother were very close. They spoke every day and he brightened her days with their conversations and his great sense of humor, with a laugh and striking blue eyes that were reminiscent of his father.  Alex also loved his sister and his son with all of his heart.

Alex had his challenges in life that began when he was young.  While Alex’s struggle was real, so was his heart, his love for his family and the beauty of the beach.  Those that knew him best, never doubted that his heart was always genuine.

It is said that the stars that shine most brilliantly, also shine all too briefly.  When that brilliant light shines on you, its brevity makes it all the more special.  Alex shone brilliantly, yet briefly as well, and will never be forgotten.

A celebration of life gathering will be held later this spring.
