Alger Francis Van Hoey, II, age 83, of Kendallville, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Sacred Heart Home, Avilla. Mr. Van Hoey was born in Detroit, Michigan, on February 9, 1942, to the late Alger Francis Van Hoey, I and Dolores Mary (Schmidt) Van Hoey. He married Rosemary Pearl Waldron on May 3, 1969, in Detroit, Michigan. Rosemary preceded him in death June 13, 2022. Alger was a retired wildlife biologist with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. He enjoyed hunting, especially waterfowl, and fishing.
Survivors include:
Son, Alger and Amy Van Hoey, III, of Rome, Maine.
Son, David Van Hoey of Kendallville.
Daughter, La Rea and Ian Case of Fort Wayne.
Daughter, Niccole Van Hoey of Anchorage, Alaska.
Daughter, Jeanna and Sheridan Wendt of Dallas, Texas.
Six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Four brothers, Tom, Chuck, Ed and John and three sisters, Mary, Theresa and Joanne.
Visitation and funeral mass will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Avilla. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM followed by the funeral mass at 11:00 AM.
Burial will follow the mass at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Avilla.
