Anna “Ann” Marie Preston, age 81, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at her residence.  Mrs. Preston was born on July 1, 1942, in Fort Wayne, IN to the late Virgil Joseph and Catherine Pauline (Smead) Wirick.  In 1962, she graduated from Southside High School in Fort Wayne, IN.  She then continued her education at Ivy Tech Community College where she earned an associate degree in respiratory therapy.  On January 17, 1959, she married Terry Lee Richter Sr. in Fort Wayne, IN.  He preceded her in death on Jun 13, 2000.  In 2009, both Ann and Herman Preston committed to one another at a civil commitment ceremony in LaGrange, IN.  Ann previously worked as a “Secret Shopper” or “Store Detective” for K-Mart and was also a bartender.  Upon completion of her degree, she worked as a respiratory therapist for countless years within Noble County, LaGrange County, and surrounding communities.  She enjoyed traveling, fishing, playing card games with family and friends, and collecting crystals and music boxes.  Ann lived life to the fullest and enjoyed all the quality time she had with her loved ones.  She will be greatly missed.

Spouse, Herman Preston of Kendallville.
Son, Terry Lee Richter Jr. of Angola.
Son, Ronald N. Sr. (Nancy) Richter of Rome City.
Step-son, Christopher Preston of Marion.
Step-son, Rodney Preston of Fort Wayne.
Step-son, Ty (Hattie) Preston of Columbia City.
5 grandchildren, Traci, Anna, Nic, Ronald Jr., and Nathan.
2 great-grandchildren, Alexis and Bentley.
Sister, Barbara Nelson of Kendallville.
Sister, Cathy (Angel) Avalos of Aurora, Colorado.
Brother, Dean Wirick of Fort Wayne.
Many cousins and extended family also are surviving. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024, from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Hite Funeral Home, 403 South Main Street, Kendallville.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024, at 11:00 am with calling one hour prior from 10:00 - 11:00 am at Hite Funeral Home. Cremation will take place following the services. 

Memorial donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
