William Roy “Bill” Sibert, a lifelong resident of Kendallville, Indiana, passed away on March 29, 2024, at the age of 79. Born on January 12, 1945, in Kendallville to Harold and Marjorie (Craven) Sibert. Bill graduated from Kendallville High School in 1963, where he made a name for himself as a standout athlete. His prowess on the football field earned him the nickname "409," as he held the record for yards gained as halfback, wearing number 12.

On December 5, 1964, Bill married his beloved Janet Sue Bohde at St. John Lutheran Church in Kendallville, beginning a partnership that lasted nearly six decades. 

Bill dedicated himself to his family and community, working at International Harvester for 19 years before joining the maintenance staff at East Noble High School in 1986. He served the school with dedication until his well-deserved retirement. In addition to his work at International Harvester and East Noble High School, Bill was also skilled in construction, contributing his talents to building and renovating houses and apartments in the Kendallville area. 

He cherished time spent at the lake with his family, creating lasting memories and enjoying the serenity of the water. Bill's love for hunting, fishing, and family defined him. 

He leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of hard work, determination, and love. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. 

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Janet Sibert of Kendallville; his son, Terry (Polly) Sibert of Kendallville; his daughter, Tammela (Steve) Teders of Kendallville; his sister, Janet (Kenny) Bodenhafer of Kendallville; four grandchildren: Nathan (Nicole) Sibert, Tiara (Chris) Stratton, Ashlyn (Luke) Buttermore, and Devin (McKenna) Teders.He is also survived by great-grandchildren Charlotte and Stevie Teders and step-great-grandchild Ryker West.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2024 from 3:00 - 7:00pm at Hite Funeral Home, Kendallville.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 11:00 am at Hite Funeral home with Pastor Ken Walker officiating.

Burial will take place at Lake View Cemetery.
