Carl Combs

Carl Combs, age 88, of South Milford, passed away July 20, 2024, at The Waters of LaGrange. Carl was born in Knott County, Kentucky on March 24, 1936, to the late Everett and Doshie (Ritchie) Combs. He was employed 39 years by Kendallville Foundry.   He married the love of his life, Phyllis Sutton on July 3,1959 in South Milford, Indiana. Phyllis preceded him in death on January 30, 2018. Carl was an avid fan of University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball and he never missed watching a game. 

Carl was baptized in 1961. He taught Sunday school for 50 years and was a deacon at church. Even on his death bed, Carl was still worried about people's souls their needing to be saved.

Carl is survived by a sister, Zella and Kenneth Feltner of Kentucky. He loved all of his nieces and nephews. His sister-in-law, Brenda Frick, (deceased) was like his little sister.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Doshie (Ritchie) Combs; sisters, Lillian Combs, Olenna Singleton and Darlene Marten; and one brother, Charlie Combs.

Visitation and funeral services will be held at Independent Baptist Church in South Milford. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 23, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 11:00am. Burial will follow at South Milford Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be John Handshoe, Bob Lawson, Grady Hall, Don Cornett, Ford Frick Jr. and Jamey Clausen.
