Carl Eugene “Bob” Sexton, Sr., age 88, of Kendallville, passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. Mr. Sexton was born in Hueysville, Kentucky on January 25, 1933 to the late Harlan and Willie (Gibson) Sexton. Carl honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a coal miner in Kentucky in his younger days. He married Marelevon “Marla” Thornsbury in Floyd County, Kentucky on September 10, 1954 and they moved to Kendallville, Indiana. Carl found employment at Kendallville Foundry where he worked for 28 years. He went on to work at Handy & Harmon, Epic and Dana in Kendallville from where he retired. He sadly was separated in death from his beloved wife, Marla, of 52 years in 2006. Known to some as Bob, he was a devoted Christian man who loved The Lord and had a deep faith in Jesus. He loved spending time with his family, tending to his garden every growing season and watching old western movies.

Daughter, Pam and Jim Montel of Kendallville.
Daughter, Char Sexton of Kendallville.
Son, Carl, Jr. and Jen Sexton of Butler.
Son, Lee and Norena Sexton of Auburn.
Son, Tim and Beth Sexton of Kendallville.
Son, Greg and Nancy Sexton of Auburn.
10 grandchildren: Chad Sexton of Garrett; Jeremy Sexton of Big Turkey Lake; Jeremiah Montel of Kendallville; Brandy Roberts of Kendallville; David Sterling of South Milford; Ashely Sterling of Kendallville; Marc Martinez of Kendallville; Lindsay Diederich of Fort Wayne; Greg Sexton of Fort Wayne; and Carlynn Sexton. 24 great grandchildren.
His siblings, Lula, Lincoln, Roby, Berlin and Aaron all preceded him in death as well as a daughter, Paula Sexton, who died April 18, 2006 and daughter-in-law, Judy Sexton.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 5, 2021 from 1:00 – 5:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 6, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Family Life Assembly of God Church on Riley Road, Kendallville with Pastor Robert Monroe officiating. There will be visitation at 10:00 AM at the church prior to the service.
Burial with military honors will follow at Lake View Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Parkview Hospice.
