In Loving Memory of Constance Ruth (Mangan) Hey
Constance Ruth Hey, 87, peacefully passed away at 6:41 pm on January 14, 2024, in the comfort of her beloved home. Mrs. Hey was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on April 26, 1936 to the late John Thomas Mangan and Florence Catherine (Gephardt) Mangan. She has called Avilla home since 1972, where her husband of 55 years, Harold E. Hey, built the cherished residence that became the backdrop of her life.
In the heart of their home, Connie and Hal found immeasurable joy in the company of their daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren. Countless hours were spent in shared laughter, creating precious memories that will forever be etched in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have been a part of their close-knit family.
Mrs. Hey dedicated her career to education, working at Avilla Middle School until her well-earned retirement. During her many years of service, she touched the lives of countless children, helping them learn the invaluable skill of reading.
She is survived by her daughter Kimberley S. DeGroot (Thomas) of Avilla, four grandchildren, Blake Westergaard (Tiffany), Brock Westergaard (Holli), MacKenzie DeGroot, MacKenna Brimmer (Cameron) and six great grandchildren, Ledger, Kayden, Ari, Conrad, Bodhi, and Avalie.
Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Harold E Hey, on July 18, 2013, and her daughter, Laura L Westergaard, on August 28, 2013.
Constance's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love and memories she leaves behind. The legacy of her warmth, kindness, and commitment to education will forever be cherished by family, friends, and the community she served so faithfully.
A private memorial service will be held at Trinity English Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne.
