Darrell W. McMillan, aka “Dewey,” was released from his earthly struggles on October 27, 2021. His beloved wife Sarah was by his side until the moment he entered the Kingdom of Jesus. His loving family gathered around him. No doubt he now charms the angels of heaven. Dewey was a man of simple faith and virtue like no other. He had a strong countenance, the patience of Job, and an incomparably wry sense of humor. All who were lucky enough to have brushed shoulders with this kind, dignified man loved him. Dewey loved to fix whatever his wife broke and could find anything she lost. Fishing, boating, and spending time at their lake place and with her were his favorite pastimes.
Dewey, age 67, was born in Peoria, Illinois, and grew up in Decatur, Illinois. After serving in the U.S. Army, he spent over 25 years in the roofing industry and was president of Roofers Union Local 92 in Decatur, Illinois. He then worked at ADM for a few years before moving to Ft. Wayne, Indiana, in 2003, to be with Sarah. There he worked at several places, including Covington Memorial Gardens and NAPA Ridge Auto Parts, until he retired in November 2020. Wherever he was, he was an extraordinary fix-it man. On October 7, 2006, Dewey married Sarah Schwehn. With Sarah, he was a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim McMillan and Donna Spears, his stepfather, Bob Spears and his brother-in-law, Matt March.
He is survived by:
His wife, Sarah McMillan of Ft. Wayne.
His son, Matt and Amber McMillan and grandchildren Aurora and Memphis of Mattoon, Illinois.
