Doris Nesbitt Obituary

Doris Maxine (Magnuson) Nesbitt, age 94, of Albion, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Lutheran Life Villages in Kendallville. Mrs. Nesbitt was born in Wolf Lake, Indiana, on June 23, 1931, to the late Ralph Leon DePew and Elva Ann (Smart) DePew Gard. She graduated from Kendallville High School in 1949. She married Robert Alan Magnuson in September of 1950, and Robert preceded her in death on April 5, 1995. She later married Richard Keith Nesbitt on September 27, 1997, at First Christian Church in Kendallville. Keith also preceded her in death September 9, 2024. 

Doris was a devoted farm wife, raising chickens, and helping out on the farm wherever and whenever needed. She was also a school bus driver for more than 40 years for Central Noble School Corporation. Doris drove bus until she was 86 years old. She retired in 2017. She was a member of Berean Baptist Church in Albion. Doris was an avid Central Noble sports fan. She loved driving the CN sports teams to their athletic events and watching her own grandkids participate in their sporting events as well. She and Keith loved to square dance. The band "Just Us Three" was their favorite band to dance to. Doris loved mushroom hunting, fishing, and gardening but her most favorite summertime activity was mowing the yard. Doris was a hard worker and deeply loved her family who will miss her tremendously. 

Survivors include:
Son, Kirk and Tammy Magnuson of Albion.
Grandchildren: Austin (Andrea) Magnuson, Carey (Aaron) White and Jaime (Kyle) Haber.
Great grandchildren: Grayson Magnuson, Everly Magnuson, Easton Magnuson, Braelyn Haber, Kole Haber, Keaton Haber, Brooklyn White, Savannah White.

Stepson, Rick and Rory Nesbitt of San Diego, California.
Stepdaughter, Teresa Nesbitt Frick of Fishers, Indiana. 
Step grandchildren: Corey Nesbitt-Campbell, Erin (Scott) Archer, Jared (Lindsey) Frick, and Ashley Pelfrey. 
Step great grandchildren: Chloeann Sprouse, Elaine Sprouse, Noble Frick, Banks Frick, and Avery Archer.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Elva DePew; her husbands, Robert Magnuson and Keith Nesbitt; brothers, Harold DePew, Larry DePew, Ralph DePew, Robert DePew, and David DePew; and a stillborn sister. 

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 12:30 - 5:30 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville followed by a funeral service at 5:30 PM. Pastor Doug Keenan will officiate the funeral. Doris will be buried next to Robert at Rose Hill Cemetery at a later date.
