Dorothy Ellen (Reinig) Masters, age 71, of Southwest Ranches, Florida and formerly Kendallville, passed away January 18, 2025, at Trustbridge Care Center in Boca Raton, Florida after a long battle with cancer. Dorothy was born in Dekalb County, Indiana on May 6,1953, to the late Victor Jospeh Reinig (1988) and Catherine Delana (Traxler) Reinig (1972). She married Maynard Devon Masters on August 18,1979, at St. John Lutheran Church in Kendallville. Dorothy loved spending time with her family and friends, and she loved to travel. Her favorite trips were to Germany, California, Michigan's Upper Peninsula, and Hawaii. She owned and operated a bookstore for Emergency Services for many years.
Dorothy is survived by:
Husband, Maynard Masters of Southwest Ranches, Florida.
Daughter, Christina and Scott Bowker of Kendallville.
Daughter, Nicole and Dan Bruno of Camby, Indiana.
Son, Michael and Kelly Masters of Knoxville, Tennessee.
Daughter, Shelly and Rob Render of Sturgis, Michigan.
Six grandchildren: Cody (Michelle) Render, Connor Render, Allison (Neil) Pritchard, Blaike Zimmerman, Harrison Masters, Davis Masters, Brianna Ferrell, Isabella Bruno and many great grandchildren.
One sister, Margaret Kessel.
Three brothers, Wayne Reinig, Albert Reinig, and Thomas Reinig.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Catherine Reinig; two sisters, Trudy Rash and Marilyn Ackerman; three brothers, Paul Reinig, Douglas Reinig, and John Reinig; and a great grandson, Peyton Render in 2023.
There will be a gathering for family and friends on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 3:00 - 5:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
