George Kumfer

George Kumfer passed away 2-23-2020, from complications of Old Fart disease. When his levels of piss and vinegar were depleted we knew his time was limited. George was born in Fort Wayne and raised there, as well as in Yoder, In. He served his country during The Korean Conflict. He provided for his family by working at Slater Steel and building them a home with his own hands. George had eight siblings that grew up in different homes due to hard times. (Elmer, Leo, Steve, Aggie, Margie, Joan, Chuck and John all preceded him in death) The siblings managed to stay connected somehow which created a strong belief in family for George. He and his wife Dee passed that belief onto their children. Scott, Dawn (Wiseman), Kim (Doehrmann) and John. George is also survived by his 5 grandchildren. Luke, Mason and Riley Kumfer, Katie Doehrmann and Jerrid Rydell.

George’s motto was help when you can but don’t take any shit. George, as you ride off in the sunset like the cowboys in those westerns you loved, with a tip of your IU ball cap, a glint of mischief in your eyes, and a grin at a slant, know you are dearly loved.

Memories can be shared at the Senior Citizen Center Dining Room, 710 Opportunity Drive, Columbia City, Indiana on March 7th, 2020 from 10 am-12 noon.  Donations may be made to Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, 5910 Homestead Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46814.
   
Our gratitude for all the phenomenal care.  Please send any flowers for Delores or cat treats for Pita to the home. They can be delivered to the Dining Hall of the Senior Center but only from 10 am to 12 on March the 7th.  Pita is George’s cat. Pita stands for Pain InThe Ass. She was a perfect match for George and brought him great joy.
