George Alan Mizer, age 91, of New Haven, passed away June 5, 2024, at Parkview Randaillia Hospital, Fort Wayne. Mr. Mizer was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on March 26, 1933, to the late Henry Irvin Mizer and Nora Melinda (McMahon) Mizer. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy from 1950-1953 during the Korean War. He married Phyllis Ann Nettrour on August 4, 1956, in Fort Wayne. George was employed for 40 years with Joslyn Steel/Slater Steel until he retired in 1996.
Survivors include:
Wife, Phyllis Mizer of New Haven.
Daughter, Maria and Francis Gabet of Fort Wayne.
Grandchildren: Adam (Joy) Gabet of Huntington; Adrianne (Jae) Curry of Fort Wayne; Sam Gabet of Fort Wayne; Erica Gabet of Fort Wayne; Lydia Gabet of Euless, Texas.
Son, Jeffrey Mizer of New Haven.
Grandchildren: Ashlyn Mizer of Fort Wayne; Madelyn Mizer of Woodburn.
Seven great grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Nora Mizer; brother, Henry Mizer; grandson, Zachary Gabet; and granddaughter, Sophie Mizer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 13th, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers Street, New Haven, Indiana, with visitation from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM prior to the funeral mass.
Burial with military honors will take place at Highland Park Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Catholic Charities Refugee Resettlement Program.
