James Hugh Bartlett, age 88, of Kendallville, passed away on April 26, 2025, at Parkview Noble Hospital. Jim was born in LaGrange County, Indiana on August 12, 1936, to the late Vincent and Helen (VanVoorhies) Bartlett. He graduated from Kendallville High School in 1954. Jim worked for Palace of Sweets, operated City Service Gas Station, Culligan, International Harvester and owned and operated J & D Janitorial and Decorating. He married Jacquline (Caldwell) Bartlett who preceded him in death. He was a member of the Jaycees, Kendallville Elks, a councilman for the City of Kendallville, He was a past member and Elder at First Christian Church, current member of Mongo United Methodist Church and also a lay leader and Sunday School teacher for the church. Jim founded a bible study group at International Harvester in Fort Wayne. He enjoyed attending many events for his children and grandchildren and was a youth baseball coach for several years. Jim also enjoyed getting out and playing many rounds of golf whenever he was able.

Son, Rev. James D. and Rhonda Bartlett of Adams Lake.
Daughter, Debra Cooper of Kendallville.
Grandchildren; Chad and Stephanie Cooper of Pendleton, Amanda Hall of Michigan, Corey Cooper and fiancé Alisha Slone of Wolcottville, Andrew and Ashlee Bartlett of Brushy Prairie, Jefferson and Amber Cooper of Auburn, Ernest and Laura Bartlett of Corunna.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Mongo United Methodist Church, 325 State Road 3, Mongo, Indiana 46771 with burial to follow at Mongo Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Mongo United Methodist Church.
