James Dawson Tucker, age 69, of Kendallville, passed away Monday, May 5th, 2025, at his home in Kendallville. Dawson was born in Garrett, Indiana, on July 17, 1955, to the late Jesse Elias Tucker and Hazel Belle (Frain) Tucker. He was a foundry man and was employed with Newnam Foundry and retired from Mahoney Foundry both in Kendallville. He also worked at Tri-State Hardwoods in South Milford early on. He married Julia Ann Cowley on June 30, 2012, in Kendallville. Dawson loved going to the casino, working on cars and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Wife, Julia Tucker of Kendallville.
Daughter, Trinity Johnson of Kendallville.
Son, James Dawson Tucker, Jr. of Kendallville.
Son, Jeffery and Shellie Tucker of Kendallville.
Ten grandchildren: Shianne Johnson of Warsaw, Sarah Johnson of LaGrange, Lindzie Johnson of Goshen, Richard Johnson of Michigan, L.J. Tucker of Garrett, Heather Tucker of Garrett, Brittany Smith of LaGrange, Mariah Tucker of Evansville, Jayden Tucker of Kendallville, and Travis Tucker of Kendallville. Eight great grandchildren with another one on the way.

Sister, Trisha Kelly of Colter, Indiana.
Brother, Richard Tucker of Albion.
Brother, Randy Tucker of Fort Wayne.
Brother, Dowine Tucker of Rome City.
Dawson was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Hazel Tucker; sisters, Rella Tucker and LaVancha Willits; brothers, Marion Tucker, Gary Tucker, and Donald Tucker.
Visitation and funeral services will both be held Friday, May 9th, 2025, at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville. Visitation will take place from 3:00 - 6:00 PM followed by the funeral service at 6:00 PM. Rev. Charles Mosley will officiate the funeral service. Memorial donations may be made to Dawson's family.
