Janet Mae Campbell Fetters, known to her friends as Jan, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, at the age of 87. She was born in South Bend on September 7, 1937 to the late Elwood Wayne and Mildred Maxine (Jenkins) Hoelcher. Also preceding her in death are her former husband, Brian L. Campbell and her brother, Philip Hoelcher.
Jan is survived by her husband and partner of 49 years, James Fetters, her children Diane (Jeff) Lovin, Jolene Campbell (Mark Grzesiowski), Ernest Campbell, Brian L Campbell Jr: stepchildren Maureen Fetters, James Fetters: grandchildren, Dana (fiancé José) Lovin, Jared (Bailey) Campbell, Kylie (Jayme) Andre, Luke Campbell, Brandon Campbell and Alyssa Grzesiowski: great-grandchildren Sophia Campbell and Reese Campbell.
Jan never hesitated to help a friend or family member in need and generously gave her time to her children and grandchildren. A hands-on person, Jan enjoyed sewing, household projects, and tending to her flowers and bird baths. She also had a passion for genealogy, traveling with her husband to numerous libraries and cemeteries to research and document her family’s history. Jan loved the water and found joy living on the lake. As snowbirds, she and Jim fled the cold to spend many happy winters in Florida.
Jan’s family is grateful to the staff at The Meadows in Warsaw for the care she received there. They ensured her final days were spent in safety and comfort.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's & Dementia Services of Northern Indiana or Transitions Care Hospice (Fort Wayne).
No public services will be held. The family will gather privately.
