Jayne Nichols, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on the evening of June 29, 2025, at DuPont Hospital after a courageous 16-month battle with cancer. She was surrounded by the love of her family in her final moments.
Jayne was married to her beloved husband, Jeffrey Hoering, for 43 years. Together they shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and adventure, from camping in their early years to exploring the country in their motorhome later in life. Their bond was one of deep companionship, and their many travels together were among her most cherished memories.
She was a devoted mother to Joshua Hoering; Justin Hoering and his wife, Wendy; and Janelle Delagrange and her husband, Evan. Her greatest joy came from being “Grandma Jayne” to her six grandchildren: Jordan and Madeleine Hoering, and Liam, Asa, Finn, and Roselyn Delagrange.
Jayne is also survived by her sisters, Penny Keuneke and Angie Nichols. She was preceded in death by her brother, Steve Nichols, and her parents, Dick and Joann Nichols.
Jayne loved her family more than anything and gave selflessly to those around her. Her strength, warmth, and unwavering love will live on in the lives she touched. Though there will be no formal service, her family will continue to honor her memory by living with the same grace and compassion she showed every day.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
