Jerry Hampton

Gerald Devon “Jerry” Hampton, age 84, of Andrews, died December 25, 2020 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Huntington. Mr. Hampton was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana on March 7, 1936 to Ernest B. and Dorothy (Smith) Hampton. He honorably served his country in the United States Army in Germany during WWII. Jerry was a union sheet metal worker for 50 plus years with Fort Wayne Local 20. He married Leota Deel on January 18, 1975 in Huntington. Jerry was a member of the Huntington VFW Post 2689.

Survivors include:
Wife, Leota Hampton of Andrews.
Daughter, Jackie Irwin of Huntington.
Son, Ernest Lloyd Hampton of Andrews.
Sister, Barbara Key.
His son-in-law, Robert Harry “Bob” Irwin, preceded him in death on December 17, 2020. He was also preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and four sisters.

Burial with military honors will take place later at Marion National Cemetery.
