John Fitzgerald

John Fitzgerald, age 76, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on January 25th, 2025, in his home. He was born on January 19th, 1949, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was a graduate of North Side High School and the University of Saint Francis, with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration; the first in his family to earn this level of education. He served in the U.S. Army. He was an ardent Bears, Cubs, Bulls, Notre Dame and IU fan.  He was a loving father and grandfather.  He was employed at Home Loan Bank as Vice President and Loan Officer from 1976 – 2000, Three Rivers FCU as Mortgage Manager from 2000 – 2005, and Continental Bank Chicago 1967 – 1976.

He is survived by his wonderful wife of 57 years, Nancy Fitzgerald; son, Robert Fitzgerald; daughter, Jennifer Hicks, son-in-law Ryan Hicks; and daughter, Rebecca Stephens. Sisters, Sharon Dull, Deborah Warren, Lori Templeton; grandchildren, Justin, Nicholas, Devin, Gabriel, Lilliana and Jadis; nephew James, nieces Tiffany and Rachelle, and grandnephews and grandnieces.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Naomi Ruth Mundy Knight; stepfather, Lawrence J. Warren; father, John E. Fitzgerald; grandfather, Nihl Mundy; grandmother, Gertrude Mundy and brother, Nihl Allen Warren.

Visitation and funeral services will be held Friday, January 31, 2025, at St. Joseph United Methodist Church, 6004 Reed Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46835. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM. The funeral service will conclude with military honors at the church. Burial will follow at Jordan Cemetery near Fremont, Indiana. Memorial donations may be made to AMVETS Post 33, Fort Wayne.
