John Russell Miller, 79, of Marion, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024 at the Marion VA Medical Center and into the presence of his Lord and Savior. He was born in Marion, Indiana on April 27, 1945, to Max T. and Faye Lucinda (Wolfe) Miller.
After graduation from Marion High School in 1963, John entered the US Air Force and honorably served his country from 1963-1967. He was decorated with the National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal.
Following his military service, John worked at Anaconda Wire and Cable, retiring in 2008 after 44 years of service.
John is survived by his daughter, Dawn Miller, Fort Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Alyssa Miller and Logan (Skyla) Myers, Warren, IN; great-grandchildren, Vincent Jones and Holden Myers; special friends, Rick and Donna Kramer of Marion, IN; Cherie Calobrace and Bonnie Robinson, both of Marion, IN; goddaughter and caregiver, Terri Couse.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cheryl A. Karnes Miller; a brother, Dennis A. Miller; and his beloved dog JJ.
A service with military honors will be held on Monday, August 5, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Marion National Cemetery where his remains will be laid rest.
