Julia Ann Tucker, age 77, of Kendallville, Indiana, passed away from cancer on June 16, 2025.
Julia was born on June 21, 1947, to Walter and Dorothy (Keister) Cowley. Her grandparents helped raise her in her early years until her dad re-married Wanda (Iddings) Cowley, and she was blessed with three baby brothers, Jim, Jason, and Jacob Cowley.
Julia's life was filled with not just one, but two loving husbands. She married MSG Richard William Hazelton on June 27, 1965, and was proud to share adventures with him as an Army wife, until his passing on October 2, 2002. Later, she found love again with James Dawson Tucker, whom she was married to on June 30, 2012, until his death on May 5, 2025.
Julia found great joy in the simple things: baking, sewing, writing, and nurturing young children. Whether it was her own grandchildren or those she cared for like family, her focus was love.
She was preceded in death by her son, Richard Joseph Hazelton.
Julia is survived by her daughters, Beth Hayes, Bobi Cook (Bryan), Trinity Johnson and sons, James Tucker and Jeff Tucker (Shellie); grandchildren Brett Hayes, Richie Hazelton (Charnel), Brittaini Jefferis (Kolton), Bryce Cook (Victoria), Shianne Johnson, Sarah Johnson, Lindzie Johnson, Richard Johnson, LJ Tucker, Heather Tucker, Brittany Smith, Mariah Tucker, Jayden Tucker, Travis Tucker; and a legacy of love that lives on in her 24 great-grandchildren, who were her greatest pride and joy.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends and family are invited to join us to celebrate the impact of her life. A viewing will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, from 5-7 pm at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville, Indiana.
