M. LaMarr Deaton, 92, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. Born November 20, 1929 in Springfield Ohio, he as the son of the late Walter Deaton and Eloise (Webb) Deaton. In 1947, LaMarr graduated from Springfield High School. LaMarr served in the US Navy aboard the USS Coral Sea aircraft carrier and had the opportunity to visit Paris and Rome. After returning home, he attended Olivet Nazarene University where he would meet his future wife Donna who was playing in a basketball game on campus. On August 7, 1954, he married Donna Imel at Southside Church of the Nazarene in Fort Wayne Indiana. LaMarr owned a construction company for many years. LaMarr was involved in the Lakeside Nazarene church with his wife Donna and after her passing became active at the Chapel with his son David. He enjoyed travel with his family and had several favorite local restaurants. Surviving his son in law Kenneth Atkins of Indianapolis, Michael D (Annette) Deaton, David B Deaton and daughter Jennifer L (Peter Janzen) Deaton; granddaughters Adrienne Atkins and Ryan Fortuna of Indianapolis Indiana, Alissa (Jonathon) Miller and Kayla (Drew) Mogg of Fort Wayne and Katherina and John Hoffman of Baltimore Maryland. LaMarr is preceded in death by his wire Donna Deaton, his son John Mark Deaton and Daughter Susan M Atkins as well as brother Lowell Deaton and his sister Ruth Kearfott.
Funeral services at 11 am, Saturday February 5, 2022 at The Chapel Church on 2505 W Hamilton Rd S, Fort Wayne 46814. Senior Pastor Brandon Holler officiation, visitation is from 9 am to 11 am on Saturday. Grave Site service to follow with Honor Guard.
