Laura Lee (Gienger) Carteaux, age 63, of Avilla, passed away Monday, May 26, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Laura was born in McCray Hospital in Kendallville, Indiana on December 14, 1961, to the late Paul Dickinson Gienger and Mary Ann (Cushing) Barnes. She graduated from high school in Carthage, Missouri, and Pima Medical Institute, Pima, Arizona, in 1990. Laura was employed as a radiology technologist with Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville. She married Russell James Carteaux, Jr. on November 24, 1995, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in LaOtto. Laura enjoyed traveling, especially on a cruise ship. Her pets were an important part of her life. One of her favorite sayings was "Everyone needs a cat and dog in their lap".
Survivors include:
Husband, Rusty Carteaux of Avilla.
Son, Derek and Rachel Dahlman of Fort Wayne.
Son, Zane Anderson and his husband, Caleb Snell of Wheeling, Illinois.
Two grandchildren: Noah Dahlman and Isaiah Dahlman.
Stepson, Brent and Nikki Carteaux of Auburn.
Stepson, Brad and Amy Carteaux of LaOtto.
Stepson, Bruce Carteaux of Jacksonville, North Carolina.
Eleven step grandchildren.
Brother, Gary and Jane Gienger of Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Sister, Julie Gienger of Japan and Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Two nieces and one nephew.
Additional survivors include her cat, Louie; cat, Dooney; and dog, Charlie
Visitation will be held Friday, May 30, 2025, from 3:00 - 6:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville followed by a memorial service at 6:00 PM
