Leo Ray Cornewell, age 88, of Fort Wayne, passed away April 14, 2020 at Bethlehem Woods, Fort Wayne. Mr. Cornewell was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on June 23, 1931 to Elmore E. and Catherine (Johnson) Cornewell. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Leo was a pattern maker with Allen Pattern. He married Elsie M. Book and she preceded him in death in 1996. Leo loved to go fishing, play golf, camping with his family and gardening. The family raised a big garden every year and Leo grew the biggest and best tomatoes!

Son, Kenneth Cornewell of Fort Wayne.
Son, Cliff and Laurie Cornewell of Churubusco.
Daughter, Cindy and Arlin Springer of Yoder.
Daughter, Vicky and Ed Cayot of Marion, Illinois.
Daughter, Brenda and Tom Hulvey of Ossian.
12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Elmore and Catherine; his wife, Elsie; a son, Danny Cornewell; three sisters, Lavon Miller, Loretta Melton, Leona Caley; and two brothers, Chet and Elmore Cornewell.
A private gathering with burial will take place Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne.
Memorial donations in Leo’s honor may be sent to Southern Care Hospice.
