Lois Jean Young Obituary

Lois Jean Young, age 92, of Avilla, passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at home. Mrs. Young was born near Albion, Indiana on April 22, 1929 to the late Carroll A. Friskney and Grace (Truelove) Friskney. She graduated from Albion Jefferson High School. She was employed with Dana Corporation and was a Dana-Mite. Lois Jean taught Sunday school for many years at Calvary United Methodist Church in Avilla. She loved flowers and gardening, embroidery and painting. She loved being with her family and she enjoyed traveling to see them in Colorado and Arizona.

Survivors include:
Son, Robert and Maxine Young of Hudson.
Daughter, Vickie Gamble of Avilla.
Daughter, Bonita and Thomas Betthauser of Castle Pines, Colorado.
Daughter, Cathy and Bruce Ehret of Avilla.
13 grandchildren: Andrea and Aaron Boothe of Tucson, Arizona; Adam Young of Fort Wayne; Megan and Brad McCleary of Fort Wayne; Rebekah Young of Fort Wayne; Jacob and Sarah Gamble of Fort Wayne; Joshua Gamble of Avilla; Stephanie Betthauser and Geoffrey Maddaford both of Castle Rock, Colorado; Kimberly Betthauser and Andrew Hill of Littleton, Colorado; Ryan Betthauser of Castle Rock; Travis Ehret of Florida; Amber and Robert Waterson of Lorton, Virginia; Bryce Ehret of Avilla and Kyle and Paige Ehret of Kendallville.
14 great grandchildren.
Sister, Patti Newman of Sylvan Lake, Rome City.
She was preceded in death by son-in-law, Woody Gamble; and siblings, Junior Friskney, Merlin Friskney, Lee Friskney, Maxine Hamlin and Pearl Luke. 

Visitation will be held Monday, December 6, 2021 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville. 
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Hite Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Christian Union Cemetery near Garrett with Bryce Ehret, Kyle Ehret, Josh Gamble, Jake Gamble, Adam Young and Ryan Betthauser as casket bearers. 
Memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Post 240, Women’s Auxiliary.
