Loretta Kay (DeLong) Nesbitt

Loretta Kay (DeLong) Nesbitt, age 81, of Avilla, passed away August 31, 2024, at Sacred Heart Home in Avilla. Loretta was born in Auburn, Indiana on May 2, 1943, to the late Harold and Ida (Smith) DeLong. She graduated from Avilla High School in 1961. She married Charles Lee "Chuck" Nesbitt on February 25, 1966, at the old Methodist Church in Avilla. Chuck preceded her in death August 9, 2024. Loretta worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for Campbell & Fetter Bank and a collection agency. She loved tending to her flower beds, watching the hummingbirds and other birds in her yard, playing a round of golf and visiting with family and friends.  

Survivors include:
Son, John and Laraine Nesbitt of Avilla.
Son, Randy Nesbitt and his companion, Deanna Baker, both of Stienbarger Lake near Wawaka. 
Son-in-law, Cordell Combs of Cosperville.

Seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. 
Brother, Robert DeLong of Big Turkey Lake near Stroh.
Brother and sister-in-law, LeRoy and Jane DeLong of Auburn.
Brother and sister-in-law, Hugh and Ramonda DeLong of Albion.
Brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Sherri DeLong of Churubusco.
Sister, Diana Morse of Kendallville.
Brother-in-law, Keith and Doris Nesbitt of Albion.

Loretta was preceded in death by her daughter, Pam Combs; brothers, Amos Harold DeLong, Dale DeLong and brother-in-law, Thomas Morse; and sister, Carolyn (DeLong) Lash and brother-in-law, David Lash. 

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM. Pastor David Bolen will officiate the memorial service. Following the service, there will be a meal served that all are welcome to attend. 

Loretta and Chuck will be buried together in a simple burial service at a later date at Sweet Cemetery near Albion.
