Louvena (Calhoun) Mitchell

Louvena Ruth Mitchell, age 80, of Kendallville, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Orchard Pointe in Kendallville. Mrs. Mitchell was born June 8, 1942 in Hazard, Kentucky to the late Joseph Calhoun and Naomi (Campbell) Calhoun. She married Stewart R. Mitchell on July 3, 1975 in South Milford, Indiana. Stewart preceded her in death July 25, 2022. Louvena was a wife and homemaker, but she also worked at Tokhiem, Starcraft, Colwell and Monsanto. She belonged to the Community Baptist Church.

Survivors include:
Her sister, Barbara Ritchie of Kendallville.
Stewart’s children: Tammy, Rick, Steve, and Darrell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stewart; sisters, Janice Mae Calhoun, Violet Blankenship, Jeanette Kassee; brothers, Earl Shepherd, Carl Calhoun, Virgil Calhoun, Ergle Calhoun; and brother-in-law, Rev. Carl Ritchie.  

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2022 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Hite Funeral Home with Pastor Mark McCue officiating.
Burial will follow at Sweet Cemetery near Albion.
