Michael Joseph Bruce, age 66, of Rome City, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2024 at his home after a long battle with prostate cancer. Michael was born on September 13,1958 in Anderson, Indiana to the late Robert Joseph Bruce and Marcia Christine (Mueller) Bruce. He was a 1977 graduate of East Noble High School and attended college at University of Wisconsin-River Falls, Wisconsin. While in high school, he was co-captain of the varsity football team, and a team member in basketball and baseball. His love of sports continued as he coached girls' basketball and boys' football for Rome City Middle School. He married Nancy Darlene Holliday on May 1, 1992, in Rome City, Indiana who survives him. Mike retired from Dow Chemical in 2020 and spent time tending to his garden, attending his grandchildren's school events and watching his beloved Boston Red Sox. He was an advocate for the Zero Cancer organization attending several yearly summits in DC to bring awareness to members of congress for Prostate Cancer research and funding. Mike also enjoyed volunteering his time at Bingo the Sylvan Lake Improvement Association Hall.

Son, Eric Bidwell and his companion, Renee Medford both of Kendallville.
Daughter, Jessica and Jared Quarles of Fort Wayne.
Son, Matthew Bruce of Rome City.
Daughter, Ashley and Ben Jones of Avilla.
Daughter, Julia Bruce of Lake Gage, Angola.
14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Sister, Tina Bherns of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.
Sister, Laura and Kevin Spadoni of Plano, Texas.
Sister, Jeana and JD Dowd of Plano, Texas.
Brother, Timothy Bruce of Fort Wayne.
Brother, Joel and Staci Bruce of Danville.
Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marcia Bruce and two brothers, Robert Bruce and Patrick Bruce.
There will be a gathering of family and friends to celebrate and remember Mike's life on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 2:00-4:00pm at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Memorial donations may be made to the family to help with remaining medical expenses during cancer treatments or to Zero Cancer Foundation.
