Mildred (Gibson) Banks, age 85, of Avilla, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024 at Parkview Dekalb Hospital, Auburn. Mrs. Banks was born in Garrett, Kentucky on April 18, 1938 to the late William Gibson and Luecreta (Gibson) Gibson. She first married John Harvey Lingar, the father of her children, and he died in 1979 at the age of 54. She later married Stanley G. Banks on May 8, 1983 in Auburn, Indiana. Stanley also preceded her death on December 6, 2001. Mildred was employed for 14 years with Kitco in Avilla.

Daughter, Madeline Lemish of Avilla.
Daughter, Christine and Dan Isham of Auburn.
Son, Luther and Charlette Lingar of Corunna.
Seven grandchildren: Jamie Conrad of Auburn, Kelly Spallinger of Waterloo, Trisha Lingar of Auburn, Billy Lingar of Corunna, Heather and Nate Hunter of Auburn, and Francine Lemish of Garrett.
Eight great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Brother, Emory and Mary Gibson of Kendallville.
Brother, Worley and Faye Gibson of Kendallville.
Brother, Recie Jay and Billie Jo Gibson of Rome City.
Brother, Arthur and Sally Gibson of Waterloo.
Brother, Melvin Handshoe of Garrett.
Sister, Cosby Salisbury of Albion.
Sister, Mary Sue Halferty of Albion.
Sister, Elizabeth Pelfrey of Rome City.
Mildred was also preceded in death by son, John Lingar; son, Tony Lingar; daughter-in-law, Brenda Lingar; brothers, Thurman Gibson and Mitchell Gibson; and sisters, Flossie Martin, Marie Gibson, and Brenda Blackburn.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 14, 2024 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Hite Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Circle Hill Cemetery in Angola.
Casket bearers will be Luther Lingar, Telmon Lingar, Dan Isham, Arthur Gibson, and Recie Gibson.
