Nancy Elizabeth (Dugdale) McKinley passed away peacefully Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Vancrest Care Facility in Hicksville, Ohio. She was born on April 15, 1936, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Thomas and Anna Lois Dugdale. Nancy married David McKinley on June 1, 1957, in Marion, Indiana. She was a 1957 graduate of Parkview Nurses Training and spent 40 years caring for others in hospitals with 30 years at Hicksville Community Memorial Hospital. Nancy loved the Lord and served faithfully in her local church singing in the choir and various ladies ministries. She was a true helpmate and was happiest working beside her husband in disaster relief outreach ministries, the Harlan Business Association, beekeeping, woodworking, or other community events.
Nancy loved to garden and kept immaculate vegetable and flower gardens. She loved living in the country watching the birds and other wildlife. She crafted beautiful quilts and enjoyed knitting and cross-stitch. She was gifted at planning and hosting events whether it was a family reunion or a game night with friends. She liked heading down the road with the camper to explore the country or visit family in other states.
Survivors include her husband, David McKinley, of Spencerville, Indiana; children Michael (Doris) McKinley, of New Haven, Indiana; Robert (Lori) McKinley, of Berne, Indiana; and Cheryl (Lynn) Anderson, of Spencerville Indiana. Nancy and David also have 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Martha Brovant, and her two brothers, Thomas and David Dugdale.
Visitation and funeral services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Saint Mark Lutheran Church, 302 Washington Street, St. Joe, Indiana. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM followed by the funeral service at 12:00 PM. Burial will take place at Scipio Cemetery, St. Road 37, Harlan, Indiana. Memorial donations may be made in Nancy’s name to St. Mark Lutheran Church.
