Sergeant Peter Franz Koiner, age 64, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Sage Bluff in Fort Wayne. Mr. Koiner was born on March 4, 1953, in Vienna, Austria to the late Adolph Lob and Gertrude Christine (Koiner) Kelly. In 1971, he graduated from Belmont High School in Los Angeles, California. Peter continued his education at California State University in Los Angeles where he obtained an associate of arts degree in Music in 1974. Mr. Koiner served his country honorably with the United States Army for 13 years then continued his service with the Unites States Army National Guard for 10 years. On May 17, 1986, he married Evelyn Griffin at Immanuel Baptist Church in Fort Wayne. Together, he and his wife are members of The Chapel in Fort Wayne. He was a very spiritual man and leaned on Christ throughout his entire life. Peter was also a member of the American Legion in Fort Wayne. He loved music and would play the trombone, piano, and organ. While in Los Angeles, he conducted the Junior Philharmonic. He was also currently a singer in the Senior Saints singing group in Fort Wayne. He was an avid fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers. He enjoyed field trips and playing basketball and soccer with his sons. Peter was very family oriented and enjoyed his time with his grandson.

Son, Peter Christopher and Amanda Koiner of Bluffton.
Son, Joshua Gregory and Jennie Koiner of Fort Wayne.
Grandson, Kaden Koiner of Bluffton.
Sister-in-law, Gayle Griffin of Fort Wayne.
Sister-in-law, Karen Griffin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Sister-in-law, Karen and Hal Jamison of Oregon.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 11:00am with visitation 2 hours prior from 9:00-11:00am at The Chapel, 2505 West Hamilton Road South, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46814. Burial with military honors will be held at 1:00pm at Marion National Cemetery. Officiating the services will be Pastor Tom Schekat.
