Richard Wayne Smith, known affectionately as "Dick", departed this world to be with his Heavenly Father on July 22, 2025, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He was born in Kendallville, Indiana on August 20, 1947, to Guss and Marie Smith.
Dick was a hardworking long-distance truck driver for many years. He never met a stranger and would start a conversation with anyone he met. He especially enjoyed golfing with friends, fishing and taking rides with his beloved dog, Sparky.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Guss and Marie Smith; his brother, Lloyd "Smitty" Smith; his sister, Doris Jean Gillian and his granddaughter, Heather Marie Clark.
He is survived by the love of his life, Dianne Swarers of Marshall, Texas; his daughters, Lisa Clark and her husband, Richard of Hemphill, Texas, Lori Lohr and her husband, Larry of Kilgore, Texas, Janis Swan and her husband, Ralph of Longview, Texas; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Shawn, Brendon, Amy, Edward, Destiny and Kira; ten great-grandchildren, Jacob, Matthew, Shyanne, Payton, Shawn, Jr., Skye, Levi, AuBurn, Jasper, and Emilio; two great-great-grandchildren, Hayden and Madilyn (due in September); his loyal dog, Sparky and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing and service will be private in Texas.
