Rose (Little) Scott

Rose Nellwood Scott, 88, of Lucas, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022. She was born on June 21, 1934, in Index, Kentucky, to Nettie and James Little. On June 6,1953, she wed Richard H. Scott, who preceded her in passing on February 17, 2017, after 64years of marriage. A 1952 graduate of Lucas High School, Rose was a life-long Lucas resident, where she and Richard raised five sons. She worked for many years behind the walls at the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, where she was secretary for the correctional education department. She was also employed for years at Lucas School as a special education driver and cafeteria aide.

Rose was known as the family photographer and took many pictures at the numerous family and social gatherings she both organized and hosted. Christmas was her season, and she had a particular talent for decorating and gift wrapping. To her grandchildren, she will be most remembered as a master chef of the kids’ favorite comfort foods.

She is survived by five sons: John (DeAnn) Scott, of Columbus Grove, OH; Dan (Martha) Scott, of Haymarket, VA; Jim Scott, of Columbus, OH; Jack Douglas (Narissa) Scott, of Ft. Wayne, IN and Jerry (Shannon) Scott, of Littleton, CO; twelve grandchildren: Jamienne (Sean), Dylan, Derryn, Jocelyn, Lisa, Jacqueline, Jeffrey, Andrew (Jean), Brian (Heather), Lauren, Sam (Vivian) and Pete (Tori); three step-grandchildren: Ben, Adam and April; and seven great grandchildren.

She is also survived by sister-in-law June Little-Kern of Lucas; brothers-in-law William Scott of Lucas and David and Thomas Scott of Texas; many nieces and nephews, including two close
nieces Carol Sue Bobst and Krista Taylor. In addition to her parents and husband Richard, she was preceded in death by all her siblings:Charles (Lois) Little, Faireen (Bill) Query, Louise (Marshall) Ramsey, Jay Little and Gene (Margie) Little.

Rose was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lucas. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s on Saturday, December 3, 2022, with visitation at the church from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Kathy Kollar officiating. Friends and family are invited to a gathering to be held afterwards at the Lucas Community Center from 12:00 until 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 106 West Main St., Lucas, OH 44843.
