Ross Handshoe, age 82, of Kendallville, died Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at home.  Mr. Handshoe was born in Hueysville, Kentucky on April 11, 1936 to the late Coett and Hazel (Bailey) Handshoe.  He was a United States Army veteran and honorably served his country from 1954-1957 in Germany.  He married Martha Jane “Janie” Shepherd on May 26, 1961 in Avilla, Indiana and she preceded him in death in August of 2003. He married Maxie (Smith) Patton on October 30, 2004 in Kendallville and she survives him. Ross was an electrician and employed with Long Electric before retiring in 2002.  He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local #305, Fort Wayne for 35 years. Ross was an active member of the Church of Christ in Kendallville where he often volunteered his time and talents. He loved attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. He was a stock race car driver and built his own stock car. He loved being outdoors and gardening.  He loved spending time with his family and watching U.K. Wildcats basketball.

Survivors include:
Wife, Maxie Handshoe of Kendallville.
Son, Byron and Michele Handshoe of Fort Wayne.
Daughter, Pamela and Brett Peters of Avilla.
Son, Darren and Kristen Handshoe of Grabill.
Son, Douglas Handshoe of Kendallville.
Seven grandchildren: Joshua Handshoe, Jeremy Handshoe, Jerod Handshoe, Jackson Handshoe, David Handshoe, Kyle Peters, and Taylor Peters.
Step daughter, Deborah Couture of Kendallville.
Step son, Michael and Tricia Patton of Kendallville.
Step daughter, Sandra Lash of Kendallville.
Brother, Truman and Ethel Handshoe of Hueysville, Kentucky.
Brother, Vaughn and Connie Handshoe of Hueysville.
Brother, Jay and Connie Handshoe of Hueysville.
Brother, Glee and Karen Handshoe of Splendora, Texas.
Brother, Stanley and Cindy Handshoe of Leesburg, Florida.
Sister, Bess and Roger Shepherd of Fort Wayne.
Sister, Donna Handshoe and Xzana Tellis of Germantown, Maryland.
Brother, Blaine and Judy Handshoe of Martin, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Janie; sister, Irene Stevenson; brothers, Dale Handshoe and Doyle Handshoe; and a step grandson, Cameron Patton.

Visitation will be held Sunday, December 2, 2018 from 2:00 – 6:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home, Kendallville.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 3, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Hite Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Kirby officiating.  There will be visitation one hour prior to the funeral service.
Burial with military honors will follow at Christian Union Cemetery near Garrett.
Pallbearers will be his sons, Byron, Darren, and Doug; and his grandsons, Joshua, Jerod, Jackson, David, and Kyle. Honorary bearers will be Jeremy Handshoe, Taylor Peters, Jordan Patton and Shay Hand.
