Sandy Wolfrum

Sandra Kanouse Wolfrum, 85, faithful wife, loving mother and grandmother died peacefully October 21, 2023 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.  

Sandra, “Sandy”, was born December 10, 1937 to Albert and Selma (Reiff) Kanouse.  Growing up in Ft. Wayne, she graduated from North Side High School in 1956. She earned a Bachelor of Science in 1960 and a Master of Science in 1966, both from Indiana University.  Sandy taught Kindergarten in Ft. Wayne and Chicago for 10 years. 

Meeting through the Ft. Wayne Ski Club, Sandy married Thomas ‘Tod” Wolfrum in 1970. They had a beautiful marriage of over 50 years.  Sandy was a devoted mother to four children, Beth, Scott, Molly and Susan.

Sandy joined Tod in running the family business, Excel Home Furnishings. She earned an interior design certification, growing the business until selling it in 1989, which provided many retirement years filled with travel and fun.

Her favorite things included family, pets, Lake Wawasee, the British Virgin Islands, joining Tod on numerous traveling adventures, home interiors, fashion, reading, best friends, card games, shopping, cooking, gardening, crafting, playing piano, Tuesday Club and P.E.O.  Sandy also enjoyed watching her favorite sports teams - the Hoosiers and the Colts.  Her faith has always been her guiding light.

Sandy will be remembered by her vibrant, kind personality and her elegance.  She will be remembered by her adoration of her children and grandchildren.  Her grandchildren have been the absolute joys of her life. We are comforted in knowing “Mimi” had a life richly lived. We send her off with love, knowing we will be one day be reunited in heaven.

Sandy is survived by children; Beth (Wally) Wetherill, Scott (Amanda) Wolfrum, Molly (Sean) Fisher, Susan (Doug) Jansen. Adoring grandchildren; Matt, Jack, Julia, Lucy, Ben, Will, Ella, Ava, Grant, Lexy, Charly, Mimi, and 5 granddogs.   Also, her own sweetheart of a dog, Buddy.  She is predeceased by Tod, and her first grandchild, Haley Wetherill.

Services for Sandy will take place Saturday, October 28, 2023 at The Towne House Retirement Community, 2209 St. Joe Center Road, Ft. Wayne, Indiana 46825. Visitation from 10:00-11:30 a.m., with a private family service immediately following.
