Sue Catherine (Stroman) Huff, age 94, of Kendallville, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Sue was born in Helmer, Indiana, on October 21, 1930, to the late Doyne E. Stroman and Hazel L. (Poppy) Stroman. She graduated from Kendallville High School in 1948 and married William E. Huff on October 2, 1949, at the Mitchell Street Methodist Church in Kendallville. Bill preceded her in death on December 23, 1999. Along with her brother, Darol, Sue co-owned Stroman Electronics for 53 years, a business they began in 1953.

What did Sue enjoy when she wasn’t taking care of customers at the family business, Stroman Electrics? She loved her home on Little Long Lake, especially in the summer when her nieces and nephews, her children and their children came to swim, to fish and enjoy each other’s company. There were cookouts and birthday bashes, celebrations of all kinds. Family members could be found sprawled anywhere in the house, sleeping bags, blankets, pillows, anywhere there was room someone would find a place to take a nap, watch a movie, spend the night. As chaotic as it sounds, the chaos was what she loved.

Her family took vacations with friends, the Shippy’s, for many years – they packed their tents and Coleman stoves, their campers and swim gear, and their sister dachshunds’ Mitzi and Heidi, and for 2 weeks invaded Michigan. This was an annual event that both families cherished and looked forward to each year. And as their kids got older and had families of their own, they continued the camping tradition. (A side note: ask any of the Huff and Shippy campers what a “fun on the way kit” included – comic books were involved).

Sue was active in Trinity United Methodist Church. She loved singing in the choir and enjoyed her bible study groups. She also put her bookkeeping skills to good use as she volunteered her time and knowledge to several groups when needed.

Her most proud moments were watching her children, Brad and Cathy, as they shared their musical talents in various bands, theater productions, recitals and other performances for many years.
Sue lived and loved life to its fullest, and recently she proclaimed how fortunate she was to have been blessed with many friends and many years.

Survivors include:
Daughter, Cathy and Michael Patrick of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Granddaughter, Nichole and Matthew Greenlee of Denver, Colorado and five great grandchildren; Ezra, Selah, Davie, Amos, and Monroe.
Grandsons, Corey Patrick of Wyoming, Michigan and Ryan Patrick of Traverse City, Michigan.

Nephew, Scott and Sue Stroman of London, England.
Nephew, Dr. Steve and Patty Stroman of Green Bay, Wisconsin.
