Tilda Mae (Hicks) Schlotter, age 84, of Kendallville, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Lutheran Life Villages in Kendallville. Mrs. Schlotter was born in Handshoe, Kentucky, on August 13, 1940, to the late Homer Hicks and Louverna (Conley) Hicks. As a young lady, she was employed as a waitress at Valenti's Bar & Grill on Main Street in Kendallville. Later in life, she worked at Essex Wire in Kendallville and General Electric in Fort Wayne from where she retired in 2000 after 36 years of service to the company. Tilda was a member of the Elex Club with General Electric and the Kendallville Moose Lodge, and Rome City American Legion. Tilda loved gardening and would spend many hours tending to her flowers and plants in her back yard garden. Her life revolved around her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include:
Daughter, Evon Marie Schlotter of Lockport, Illinois.
Son, Timothy James Schlotter and Mary Catherine Manuel of Kendallville.
Son, Kenneth Brian Schlotter and his partner, Lorraine Nelson both of Kendallville.
Six grandchildren: Timothy Jay Schlotter of Kendallville; Yvonne Schlotter of Kendallville; Alexandra (Chris) Schneider of Kendallville; Jeremy Walker (partner, Stacy) of Litchfield, Kentucky; Zachary Schlotter of Clarksville, Tennessee; and Antoinette "Toni" Schlotter of Clarksville, Tennessee.
Five great grandchildren: Nathaniel Schlotter, Luna Faye Schneider, Estrella Mae Schneider, Tessa and Addy.
Brother, Carter and Zaundra Hicks of LaGrange.
Sister, Doris Hall of Kendallville.
Sister, Linda and Ron Buss of Angola.
Tilda was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Lou Hicks; and son, Richard Godfrey Schlotter, Jr. who died in 1998; and sister and brother-in-law, Gerlean and Cecil Everidge.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 7th, from 3:00 - 7:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 8th, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Hite Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Albaugh officiating.
Burial will follow at Orange Cemetery near Rome City.
Memorial donations may be made in Tilda's name to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Noble County Humane Shelter.
