Virginia Mae Haney, age 99, of Kendallville, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Lutheran Life Villages in Kendallville. Mrs. Haney was born in Garrett, Indiana, on March 5, 1925, to the late Michael Mankowski and Hazel Marie (Foster) Mankowski. She graduated from Garrett High School in 1943 and married Allen Elmer Haney on December 27, 1944, in Garrett, Indiana. Allen preceded her in death on December 29, 2017. Early on, during WWII, Virginia worked at General Electric in Fort Wayne while Allen was serving in the United States Navy. After the war, Allen and Virginia returned home. Haney's Glass Shop started in 1946, and Virginia kept the books and was the secretary for the company for many years. She was a member of a local sorority in Kendallville and a Bunco Club in Garrett.
Survivors include:
Son, Mike and Judy Haney of Kendallville.
Daughter, Tina and Marcel Katz of West Lafayette, Indiana.
Grandson, Scott and Brooke Haney of Kendallville.
Granddaughter, Marci Fultz of Bloomington, Indiana.
Six great grandchildren: Tristin Haney, Reagan Haney, Remington Haney, Ethan Daugherty, Michah Daugherty, and Rylee Piggott.
Sister, Margaret and Richard Schemehorn of Big Long Lake, Wolcottville.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Hazel Mankowski; her husband, Al Haney; daughter, Paula Marie Haney in 1955; grandson, Marc Haney in 1991; and great granddaughter, Haley Haney in 2023.
Visitation and funeral service will take place on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville. Memorial donations may be made to Noble County Humane Society or Faith United Methodist Church.
