Alex "Tud" Shepherd

January 18, 1926 ~ April 30, 2016 (age 90) 90 Years Old


ALEX "TUD" SHEPHERD, age 90, of Kendallville, died on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at his home.  Mr. Shepherd was born in Hueysville, Kentucky on January 18, 1926 to the late Benjamin and Burlie (Coburn) Shepherd.  He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps at an early age and later joined the United States Army serving his country during WWII.  He married Vivian Maxine Peckhart in January of 1949 in Kendallville and she preceded him in death February 15, 2007.  Alex was a foundry worker most his life.  He loved hunting and going on hunting trips out west. He also loved fishing and fishing excursions to Canada.  Alex loved his dogs and shooting his guns.  He was a proud member of the VFW Post 2749 and American Legion Post 86.

Survivors include: 
His sister, Faye Shepherd of Hueysville, Kentucky.
Many nieces and nephews also survive.
He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Coy Shepherd, Lloyd "Claude" Shepherd, and Owen "Dig" Shepherd; and his  sisters, Norma Lovely, Tilley Stephens, and Phyllis Reed.

Visitation will be Monday, May 2, 2016 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 11:00 am at Hite Funeral Home.
Officiating the funeral service will be Pastor Zaundra Hicks.
Burial with military honors will be at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville.
Memorial donations may be made to Noble County Humane Shelter.
