Alma Berniece (Johnson) Maxson, passed peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at Parkview Noble Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.  Mrs. Maxson was born August 20, 1928 in Kendallville, Indiana to Thomas S. and Nellie E. (Wentz) Johnson.  She married Richard L. Maxson on July 24, 1947 in Kendallville.  Berniece was a babysitter in her own home for over 30 years, providing loving care to countless children in the Kendallville area.  She was an avid bird watcher and bowled on city leagues and traveled to national tournaments for many years.  She was a member of First Christian Church in Kendallville.

Survivors include:
Daughter, Shirley and Mike Ihrie of Kendallville.
Daughter, Amy and Denny Jones of Ellettsville, Indiana.
Son, Mike Maxson of Fort Wayne. 
Son, Brad and Jane Maxson of Noblesville. 
Son, John and Kathy Maxson of Langley AFB, Virginia.  
13 grandchildren:  Jenny and Huey White of Huntertown; Steve and Melissa Spencer of Kendallville; Missy and Matt Bohannon of Fishers, Indiana; Justin and Jessica Maxson of Noblesville; Brandon and Kasey Hindenlang, Jessica and Martin Swogger of Kendallville; Andrew Maxson of Smyrna, Tennessee; Sarah and Dustin Kizer of League City, Texas; Breanna and Josh Vire of Fort Wayne; and Brett, Nathan, Brooke and Alyssa Jones of Ellettsville, Indiana.
12 great grandchildren, plus one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Richard, her sister Lois Lobdell, her brother, Homer Johnson, and daughter Patricia Hindenlang.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00-8:00 pm at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 11:00 am at Hite Funeral Home.
Burial will take place at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville.
Memorial donations to the National Stroke Association.
Arrangements entrusted to Hite Funeral Home.
