Gertrude (Schmuck) Lash-Arnold

GERTRUDE LASH-ARNOLD, age 101, of Kendallville died on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Kendallville Manor Health Care Center.  Mrs. Arnold was born in Kendallville, Indiana on April 4, 1914 to the late Charles Schmuck and Carrie  (Weimer) Forbes.  She first married Kenneth F. Lash.  She later married Victor DeWayne Arnold on June 27, 1942.  Victor preceded her in death on February 23, 1983.  Early on, Gertrude worked at Kraft Foods and Uniform Printing in Kendallville before retiring in 1976.  She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Kendallville.  Known as "Cookie Grandma", she enjoyed baking cookies, putting yarn on hangers, spending time with her her family, and working on word puzzles.

Survivors include: 
Daughter, Lavinn "Vinnie" Hyland of Kendallville.
Son, Gene and Phyllis Lash of Kendallville.
Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth Lash and Lee Lash; daughter, Sheila Gage; sisters, Chelsea Uhl Frehse, Lelia Uhl, and infant Dorothy Schmuck; and brothers, Carl, Walter and Clarence Schmuck. 

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 1:00pm at Hite Funeral Home, Kendallville with visitation before the service from 11:00am - 1:00pm.

Officiating the funeral service will be Pastor Robert Shriner.

Burial will be at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville.

Preferred memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church building fund.
