Jack Phillip Reed, age 89, of Kendallville, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at his residence.  Mr. Reed was born on March 23, 1928 in Kendallville to the late Harry and Ota (Longnecker) Reed.  He graduated from Kendallville High School in 1946.  On August 24, 1947, he married Patricia Opal Barker at Wayne Center United Methodist Church in Kendallville.  Jack was a farmer near Kendallville for nearly 40 years and retired in 1986.  He and his wife enjoyed gardening together and planted large gardens.  Jack was a member of the Wayne Center United Methodist Church.  Jack was a dedicated and loving Dad and Grandfather.  He loved spending time together as a family.  He enjoyed traveling, in his motor home with his wife and friend, fishing, and square and ballroom dancing.  Jack was known for his "Yummy" barbeque chicken.  He loved playing the piano for people and enjoyed wood carving.
Survivors include:
Son, Larry and Janet Reed of Columbia City.
Son, Steve and Debbie Reed of Greensboro, North Carolina.
Daughter, Nancy and Tony Blomeke of Kendallville.
Grandson, Jeff and Monica Reed of Columbia City.
Grandson, Doug and Mika Reed of Columbia City.
Grandson, Phillip Reed of Greensboro, North Carolina.
Granddaughter, Ashley and Andrew Bigelow of Auburn.
Grandson, Austin and Char Blomeke of South Bend.
Step-granddaughter, Kathleen Genusa.
Step-grandson, Andrew Langston.
9 Great-grandchildren.

Brother, Albert Reed of Kendallville.

 

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Patricia Reed, grandson, Eric Reed, and brothers, Norman and Charles Lee Reed.  

 Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 2, 2017 from 3:00pm-7:00pm at Hite Funeral Home, 403 South Main Street, Kendallville, Indiana 46755.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 3, 2017 at 11:00am at Hite Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior from 10:00am-11:00am.
Burial will take place at Lake View Cemetery.
Officiating the funeral services is Pastor Ken Walker.

Preferred Memorials may be directed to Wayne Center United Methodist Church, 1015 East Schoolhouse Road

Kendallville, Indiana  46755.
