Jean Rose Uhl, age 87, of Kendallville, Indiana, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Chandler House, Kendallville, where she has resided since May 2017. Mrs. Uhl was born on March 31, 1930 in Dekalb County, Butler, Indiana to the late Loyal and Beulah (Moree) Imler.  She graduated from Avilla High School in May of 1948 and was married to Harold Jr. Uhl on September 4, 1948 at St. John Lutheran Church in Kendallville. They were married 69 years. Harold and Jean owned and operated Uhl Oil in Kendallville from 1963-1991 and she was the secretary/treasurer of the company. After retirement, Jean worked at Chronister Drug Store for several years as well as Walgreen’s.  She was an active member of the Noble County Republican Women for many years. She also was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Kendallville.  Jean enjoyed attending every event that her grandchildren participated in the years. 

Survivors include:
Husband, Harold Jr. Uhl of Kendallville.
Son, Doug Uhl of Kendallville.
Son, Gary and Ann Uhl of Kendallville.
Daughter, Julie and Jeff Cauhorn of Avilla.
Seven grandchildren: Adam Uhl of Kendallville; Ryan Uhl of Huntertown; Erica and Brandon Fulk of Kendallville; Mark and Amanda Uhl of Fort Wayne; Josh and Kate Cauhorn of Chicago; Jacob and Elizabeth Cauhorn of Warsaw; and Jacey Cauhorn of Avilla.
She was also preceded in death by her infant daughter, Terri Lynn in 1952; daughter-in-law, Karen Uhl in 2015; her three sisters, Pauline Rice, Lorene Sleeper, and Maxine Kemerly.

Visitation will be Tuesday, January 16, 2018 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Hite Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial will take place at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville.
Pallbearers will be her seven grandchildren: Adam, Ryan, Erica, Mark, Josh, Jacob, and Jacey.
Memorial donations may be made to the Noble County Humane Shelter.
