Robert Lee Cramer, age 96, formerly of Kendallville, died Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Golden Years Homestead in Fort Wayne.  Mr. Cramer was born January 4, 1921 in Garrett, Indiana to William and Charlotte (Brown) Cramer.  He graduated from Garrett High School in 1938 and began working on the B&O Railroad in Garrett.  He was a railroader for 50 years before retiring in 1988.  Bob was also an avid landscape nurseryman and he started Juniper Hill Nursery on the west edge of Kendallville in 1950 which he owned and operated until 1989. He married Alene May Scheurich on August 28, 1961 at the Methodist Church in Avilla.

Survivors include:
Wife, Alene Cramer of Fort Wayne.
Daughter, Kathy and Rick Thompson of Leo.
Daughter, Sheri and A.J. Carpenter of Angola.
Four grandchildren: Kristyn Thompson, Devan Thompson, Brayden Carpenter, and Ethan Carpenter. 
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris; a sister, Helen Elizabeth “Betty” Wilson; and a brother, Harry Cramer. 

Funeral services will be private on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville with visitation an hour before the service.
Burial will take place at Christian Union Cemetery near Garrett.
