ROBERT KENT VANGORDER, age 51, of Avilla, died on Friday, May 20, 2016 at home.  Robert was born in Garrett, Indiana on May 25, 1964 to Kent Robert VanGorder and Susan Kay (Tonkel) VanGorder.  He graduated from East Noble High School in 1982 and worked with his dad at VanGorder Sales near Avilla.  Robert loved going fishing, and watching all kinds of sports.  An avid sports fan, he especially loved going to the East Noble basketball and football games.  The Cincinnati Reds were his favorite baseball team and Pete Rose was his favorite player.  He loved spending time with family, especially his great nephew, Owen, whom he would make laugh.  He also enjoyed playing cards.  Robert was a past member of the Noble County 4H and F.F.A. and member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Avilla.

His father and mother, Kent and Susan VanGorder of Avilla.
Brother, David and Shelly VanGorder of Avilla.
Niece, Kimberlee VanGorder of Avilla. 
Nephew, Ethan and Brainne VanGorder of San Diego, California.
Nephew, Jacob VanGorder of Avilla. 
Great nephew, Owen Schermerhorn.
Grandfather, Don Rhodes of Avilla.
Aunt, Karen and Stuart Buell of Fort Wayne.
Aunt, Sue and Randy Ruich of Fort Wayne.
Aunt, Sally and John Huelsenbeck of Avilla.
Uncle, Terry and Robin Tonkel of South Bend.
Uncle, Mike Haines of Kendallville.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert and Dorothy VanGorder and maternal grandmother, Jean Ann (Davis) Rhodes.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 2:00-8:00 pm at First Christian Church in Kendallville.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at 11:00 am at First Christian Church with an hour of visitation prior to the service.

Officiating the funeral service will be Rev. Dr. Thomas Clothier.

Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Kendallville.

Memorial donations may be made to Parkview Hospice, Calvary United Methodist Church, or First Christian Church.
