Terry W. Collins

Terry W. Collins, age 64, of Avilla, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at his residence.  Mr. Collins was born on January 26, 1952, in Fitcher County, Kentucky to the late Eugene and Wilma (Cook) Collins.  He graduated from East Noble High School in Kendallville.  Terry worked for over 30 years trimming and cutting trees for Bartley Tree Service.  He enjoyed keeping his yard and lawn well manicured and made sure his property looked meticulous.  Fixing and restoring old cars was one of his favorite pastimes and he and his brother, Gary would spend hours tinkering and recreating the old cars.  Terry was a handyman and would fix any maintenance issues that would arise.  His favorite thing to do was to spend quality time with his grandchildren.  He taught them how to shoot guns and use tools.

Wife, Credy L. Rissner of Avilla.
Son, Jeffrey and Deb Collins of Indiana.
Son, Matthew Helmer of Avilla.
Daughter, Tammy Knotts of Indiana.
Daughter, Jennifer Patrick of Kendallville.
Daughter, Cynthia and Steven Arnold of Kendallville.
Daughter, Christina Helmer of Kendallville.
16 Grandchildren.
2 Great-grandchildren.
Brother, Bill and Versa Collins of Texas.
Sister-in-law, Rose Collins of Kendallville.
Numerous neices and nephews and extended family.
 
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Gary Collins.
 
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at 1:00pm with calling from 11:00am-1:00pm prior at Hite Funeral Home, 403 South Main Street, Kendallville, Indiana 46755.
Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Kendallville. 
Officiating the services will be Pastor Chris Stephens.
Memorial donations may be directed to Cancer Association of America or Dekalb Hospice.
