WANDA LOU PFAFMAN, age 81, formerly of Avilla, Indiana died on Friday, August 21, 2015 at Kingston Memory Care in Fort Wayne where she lived the past 1 ½ years.  A lifetime area resident, Mrs. Pfafman was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on October 28, 1933 to the late Russell and Mildred (Sparks) Robart.  She graduated from Avilla High School and married Byron John “Bud” Pfafman on August 16, 1950.  Bud preceded her in death on December 31, 2013.  Early on Wanda worked at DeLucany's Drug Store in Avilla for many years until later she become the agent and office manager at Farmer's Mutual Insurance Company in Avilla for the next 18 years until she retired.  She was an active member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Avilla where, in her younger days, she was a youth leader for twenty years.  She was also a member of the United Methodist Women, active in her Sunday school class, sang in the church choir, and cooked for all of the church events including countless funeral dinners and making chicken and noodles for the church booth at the Apple Festival.  She enjoyed entertaining family and friends in her home.  Wanda was a very kind and loving person and everyone will miss her sweet, gentle spirit.

Survivors include: 
Daughter, Vicki and Rick James of Fort Wayne.
Daughter, Kathy and Todd Hile of Kendallville.
Son, Gregg and Mary Pfafman of Auburn.
Daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Pfafman of rural Kendallville.
13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Sister, Doris Smurr of Avilla.
Sister, Janice and Jerry Lash of Lakeside, Arizona.
Brother, Max and Alice Robart of Fort Wayne. 
Sisters-in-law, Donna Kurtz of Albion and Jane Pfafman of Bradenton, Florida.
Brother-in-law, Max and Pat Pfafman of rural Kendallville.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Gary Pfafman, who died April 6, 2015; and three brothers-in-law, Robert Smurr, Jack Kurtz, and Ken Pfafman.

Visitation will be Monday, August 24, 2015 from 3:00-8:00pm at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 11:30am at Calvary United Methodist Church in Avilla.  There will be visitation one hour prior to the service.

Officiating the funeral service will be Rev. Shalimar Holderly.

Burial will be at Avilla Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Calvary United Methodist Church or to Heartland Hospice.

Casketbearers will be her grandsons Matthew Fetter, Heath Pfafman, Joel Pfafman, Zachary Pfafman, Trent Hile, and great grandson, Nathan Immel.  Honorary bearers will be great grandsons Bailey, Griffin, Wade, Garrett, and Sawyer Parks; Ross, Remingtin, and Redmin Brumbaugh; Benjamin Spidel; Jackson, Mason, and Hudson Foote, and Grant Fetter.
