Clairdon Charles Strater, age 73, died unexpectedly on Friday, September 8, 2017 at his residence in Garrett, Indiana.  Clairdon was born on July 29, 1944 in Kendallville, Indiana to the late Howard Lee Strater and Betty Jean (Stout) Strater Grate. He graduated from Kendallville High School in 1962.  He was married to Connie Jean Knafel on August 30, 1964 at the Rome City United Methodist Church in Rome City, Indiana.  He was a lifetime farmer and also worked at ASI/General Electric and API both in Garrett, and he drove school bus for the East Noble School Corporation. 

Survivors include: 
Wife, Connie Strater of Garrett.
Son, Norman and Teresa Strater of Ashley.
Daughter, Joatta and Mike Sayles of LaOtto.
Four grandchildren: Ashley Stamper of Indian Trails, North Carolina; Andrew Strater of Kendallville; Meghan Sayles of LaOtto; and Amanda Sayles of LaOtto. Two great grandchildren: Alayna and Annabelle Stamper.
Sister, Carolyn and Denzil Terry of Kendallville.
Niece, Jennie and Rob Hiatt of Fremont. 

Visitation will take place Tuesday, September 12, 2017 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Hite Funeral Home with Pastor Regan Ford officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
