Donald Wayne Shaw, age 83, of Kendallville, died Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Lutheran Life Villages in Kendallville.  Mr. Shaw was born in Van Wert, Ohio on April 16, 1933 to the late Paul Arthur Shaw and Lois Lenora (Ladd) Shaw.  He graduated from Hoagland-Jackson High School in Van Wert in 1951 and Defiance College in 1955 with a Bachelor’s degree in education.  He served his country in the United States Army for two years in Germany during peacetime.  In 1958, Don started his teaching career with the East Noble School Corporation at Wayne Center Elementary School and obtained his Master of Education from St. Francis University in 1963.  He was the principal at Wayne Center from 1977-1980.  He spent 22 years at Wayne Center School before moving to Northside Elementary School where he was the principal from 1980-1995.  Don was employed with the East Noble School Corporation for 37 years before retiring in June of 1995.  He was married to Cheryl Anne (Leitch) Fordeck on June 29, 1990 in Hawaii.  For 30 years, Don sold tickets at the gate for all the East Noble High School sporting events.  He was an avid gardener and loved fishing and going to auctions.  Most of all, he loved the companionship of his dogs Penny and Buttons.

Survivors include:
Wife, Cheryl Shaw of Kendallville.
Step son, Trent and Heather Fordeck of Kendallville.
Step daughter, Shannon and Mark Cooper of Muncie.
Step daughter, Cori and Matt Christoffersen of Fort Wayne.
Seven step grandchildren: Kendall, Micah, Dane, Drew, Jordan, Zachary and Brody.
Also surviving are his special cousins; Bill and Peggy Bolenbaugh of Van Wert, Ohio; Gregg Bolenbaugh of Van Wert; and Roger and Patty Bolenbaugh of Fort Wayne.
He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Marilyn and Carolyn Shaw and brother, Dana Shaw. 

Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 22nd from 3:00-7:00 PM at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Hite Funeral Home.
Burial with military honors will be at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the East Noble Athletic Department or Noble County Humane Society.
