Alonzo Jones

ALONZO JONES, age 79, of Kendallville and most recently of Jones Lake near Rome City, died on Monday, November 23, 2015 at his daughter’s residence near Rome City.  Mr. Jones was born in Hueysville, Kentucky on April 9, 1936 to the late Charley and Nora (Joseph) Jones.  He married Ioma Ruth Ousley on July 2, 1955 in Floyd County, Kentucky and she preceded him in death on December 25, 2009.  He moved to this area in 1959 and went to work with Auburn Foundry before retiring after 40+ years.  Alonzo enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, canning, and woodworking.  He was also a good cook and he enjoyed playing cards.  He loved spending time with his family and friends.  He especially loved it when his grandchildren would come over to visit and he loved his little kitten that he rescued named Maybelline.  

Survivors include: 
Daughter, Diann and Delane Scott of Rome City.
Daughter, Gena and Bill Dean of Loris, South Carolina.
Daughter, Robin Goodell of Fort Wayne.
Daughter-in-law, Susan Jones of Adams Lake near Wolcottville.
11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Sister, Brenda and Rondal Wicker of Milford, Ohio.
Three sisters-in-law, Marie Jones of Garrett, Indiana; Norma Jones of Kendallville; Sandra and Delmar Handshoe of Garrett; Donna Ousley of Auburn.
One brother-in-law, Oscar Ousley of Garrett, Indiana.
Numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his son, Leo David Jones, who died September 30, 2001; great grandson, Austin James Cormany; five sisters and three brothers.

Visitation will be Friday from 4-8:00pm at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville.

Funeral services will be Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 11:00am at Hite Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Officiating the funeral service will be Rev. Ken  Weaver.

Burial will be at Christian Union Cemetery near Garrett.

Memorial donations may be made to DART Transportation of Auburn or Noble County Humane Society.
