My Sincerest Condolences. It was my pleasure to work with the Hoffman Family for 20 years of Ag up and down thru the USDA Office. Dick was always positive even when everything looked bad, and he would always tell me, we will get thru this always have always will. Remember and hold those memories!!!

I have known Dick and Vonna almost my entire life. My grandparents and Vonna's parents were friends in Columbia City. Dick and Vonna were very supportive of my parents; Dick was a pallbearer in my father's funeral, and Vonna welcomed my mother into the garden club. Although living far away, I was able to visit with Vonna and Dick about every three years at the SWHS Triennial reunions and the SWHS Class of 1952 reunions. At our last get-together, we talked about St. John's and the Rev. Valentine Hennig, and about the practicalities of raising sunflowers instead of corn on some of their acreage. My father, who taught Dick at South Whitley, described him as a man of high character; he was proud to have been part of Dick's life. It is sad that I never got to know their children and grandchildren. They have my sincere and heartfelt sympathy at this extraordinary time. Vonna and Dick were wonderful people, and will be missed by so many people.
